<p>The escalation of the Iran–Israel confrontation into direct military conflict was preceded by a prolonged period of multidimensional strategic pressure in which military, intelligence, cyber, political, economic, psychological, and regional instruments were employed below the threshold of sustained interstate war. This study aims to identify and analyze the principal dimensions and mechanisms of Israeli threats against Iran prior to the direct attack and to explain how these interconnected threats affected Iran’s national-security environment. The study adopts a descriptive-analytical approach based on documentary analysis and focuses specifically on threat-related material while excluding broader historical, ideological, and security discussions that do not directly contribute to explaining the pre-attack environment. The findings indicate that Israeli threats against Iran were not limited to the possibility of conventional military strikes. Military coercion and threats against nuclear, missile, and strategic facilities interacted with intelligence penetration, espionage, targeted assassinations, sabotage, cyber operations against critical infrastructure, diplomatic and economic pressure, information warfare, and psychological influence. Intelligence activities constituted a particularly important enabling mechanism because the collection of information concerning strategic facilities, personnel, command structures, and technological vulnerabilities could facilitate covert action, cyber operations, and military targeting. The findings further demonstrate that Israel’s regional relationships, particularly its strategic cooperation with the Republic of Azerbaijan, altered the geographical dimensions of the threat by increasing Iranian concerns regarding intelligence access, surveillance, military technology, and operational proximity along its northwestern frontier. The study concludes that the pre-attack period should not be interpreted as a condition of peace abruptly replaced by war. Rather, it represented an escalating hybrid confrontation in which covert, technological, political, informational, and regional pressures progressively reduced the distinction between indirect rivalry and direct military conflict. The eventual transition to overt military confrontation was therefore embedded in a security environment whose operational and strategic foundations had already developed over an extended period.</p>
